What is the difference between EVI & NDVI?
Although the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) is generally considered the standard used to measure wine vigour in the wine industry, it often provides inaccurate results due to its dependency on time of day, soil variations and shadowing. Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) is calculated similarly to NDVI but uses additional wavelengths of light to correct for these inaccuracies and variations in solar incidence angle, atmospheric conditions, and canopy background signals, providing the most accurate vine health information available.
Can I use my own Enterprise GIS Software with the finish products provided?
Yes you can.
How does your multispectral cameras differ from other cameras?
We use an customizable set of filters for an wide range of applications including measuring vine vigour, water content, & detecting disease.
How does the data get processed?
When we complete your survey we upload the files with our partners for processing which begins immediately, The images go through an initial quality check & aligned, calibrated to reflectance. The images are then stitched into an orthomosaic, which is used to conduct further analysis & create the final data products.
How long does it take to get the results back?
Our current turnaround time is 24hrs - 48hrs.
How can I use the data?
Depending on your package, the data can be used in different ways. The PDF maps can be used as standalone references to view and assess your parcels. The maps are also completely georeferenced, and can therefore be loaded into Google Earth or GIS software for overlaying on other satellite images. If you opted to purchase the Enterprise GIS Data, you will be able to use these files in your own GIS analysis workflow. All files are georeferenced to the local UTM zone (WGS84 datum), unless otherwise requested. Maps can also be uploaded into Dronefuse app to be view on tablet device or mobile.
Can I obtain the raw data files?
Yes, if you choose to purchase the Enterprise GIS Data. This will give you access to all raw final products used to create the final map results.
Why is calibration important?
Lighting conditions can vary depending on many factors including sun angle, time of day, and sky conditions. In order to account for these factors, it is necessary to normalize all imagery to a known reflectance standard. Our calibration ensures consistent results when comparing imaged scenes to one another, regardless of the flight time or conditions. It also allows us to obtain consistent results with respect to disease mapping, and allows us to derive an absolute EVI scale which can be used field-to-field to define vigour.
What is the difference between the absolute & relative scales?
The difference between the relative and absolute scales is the way the colour is applied to the raw data layers. The relative colours stretch from the minimum value within the data to the maximum value, to highlight intra-field variability. These values are recorded on the legend so that you know the range that is being shown- sometimes it will vary greatly (~ 0.30 difference), and other times it will be very close (~ 0.05 difference). What you see as green on these maps is not comparable with what you would see as green on other Relative EVI maps from different fields or dates.
The Absolute colours are established across the entire possible range for the EVI (0-1) so that you can compare those colours with the colours from other fields and other dates (inter-field variability).
Do you service whole of Australia?
Yes Aero Vines, services all of Australia. We try and fit in a few surveys within different regions at the same time, to ensure we can keep our pricing competitive.
Do you offer free demonstrations?
Aero Vines believes in providing new customers with an no obligation 5ha survey at no cost. This allows our customers to see the results & benefits.
